“You were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)
On Good Friday, I had my fourth surgery. I’m so thankful to serve a God who keeps His word and answers prayers.
He didn’t have to spare my life but for some reason, He did. In Romans 9: 15-17 the Lord tells Moses “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I have compassion. So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” I give God all the glory for this victory as it was not won by my hand.
The theme of blood runs like a literal red thread throughout the Bible. Songs have been written about the mighty blood of Jesus. Through His bloodshed we are cleansed and made whole. Even the enemy Satan has been conquered through His precious blood!
There is so much power, protection, and promise in the Blood of the sacrificial Lamb that is not known to many people. Although I did go through the fire, but because of this holy covering, I was able to come out of it without even smelling of smoke, hallelujah!
This is nothing new as he did the same for Daniel’s friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego “…and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.” Daniel 3: 27
I hope whoever is reading this today finds hope in my message. He saved me and can do the same for you! Try the Blood-it still works!
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelations 12:11
Yesterday I had my 3rd surgery of the year. I never would have thought my 2015 would have contained some of the challenges it has. These events have strengthened and humbled me even more. He has been pursuing my soul for a purpose that only He knows.
It has been a terrifying process, so when I would feel afraid, I would strengthen myself in the Lord by recalling scriptures, listening to sermons online, reading devotionals, recalling past victories, attending church and talking with others who love the Lord. I also knew that no matter the outcome, I would be fine.
But I am beyond thankful that He showed me mercy and grace. So much in fact that I didn’t even have to stay overnight as planned.
This week has been tough. My son lost a school mate and my church a member. The former 15, the latter 25.
It is a blessing everyday that we wake up breathing. This last year has caused me to ponder some deep truths. We have little control over much of life, although many portray that they are “independent” and thus give God no glory for the daily mercies we receive, yet none of us deserve.
So today my testimony is one of gratitude. Thank You Lord for just being. Thank You for Your awesome faithfulness. Thank You Father for sitting high yet looking low. Thank You Abba for sustaining my life. Thank You that nothing is impossible with You.
“There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD who heals you.” ~Exodus 15:22-26
Thank You Lord for Your goodness, everlasting love, compassion, and healing touch. You’ve been a father and a provider for me. You’ve covered me with Your wings when I’ve felt so very afraid. You’ve been a strong tower in my many weak moments. You-God that heals, has been with me in every examination room and every procedure I’ve had to endure. Your calming presence has made it so that I don’t even flinch. You, the Ultimate Physican, skillfully guided the hands of my surgeons. You are a God who keeps Your word and I know that You will continue to show me favor in the midst of it all. You O Lord can make bitter water sweet. With a heart of pure gratitude, I pray in the Holy name of the Lamb, Amen.
